Hey Tumblr followers! So I’m moving in with my lovely fiance Jeff in a week, and am in need of some major purging. I have boxes upon boxes of old test prints and I’m going to give away a nice little packet of some to 10 lucky readers! All you have to do is REBLOG this post to be entered. Lucky winners will be notified on July 30th! So tell your friends! Nice cheap (free) way of getting some old prints from me! Winners will be chosen at random.
Okay cinephiles, it’s time to step-up your game and show us what you’re made of. Get ready to be one-part Roger Ebert and one-part Miss Cleo as O Cinema is hosting a ‘Predict the Oscar Winners’ contest.
From now till Oscar Sunday you will have a chance to pipe up and tell us who you think will take home the little bald gold man statuette. If you correctly guess the most winners you’ll win a one year membership to O Cinema and who knows…maybe some other surprise prizes for the runner ups.
Paper ballots are available at the cinema or you can enter online by Clicking Here
A month from today, Ernie and I will be boarding a plane at SFO bound for MIA. For Ernie, this will be different than all the other trips to Miami that he’s made endless times across the last 2 1/2 years we’ve been dating. This trip doesn’t have a return date. He’ll be moving here, moving with me to a new apartment in this crazy city, this town that is the antithesis to all he knows. Eventually, I hope it’ll feel like home for him but that won’t happen immediately. It will take time and I realize that. For me, this trip won’t just be another trip back home either. It will be the start of a new journey- moving away from my parents and moving in with my boyfriend into an apartment that we’ll make our home. The idea is exciting, everything I’ve ever wanted, and mind boggling all at the same time.
So in the next month a lot has to happen. Next week, a week long trip to San Francisco will help us to start coordinating Ernie’s move. I’ll help him purge, organize, and figure out what he wants to get rid of and what he plans to keep. I’ll finish doing that myself when I get back. We’re pretty well organized all things considered but there’s still much to do. Cars to sell, furniture to coordinate moving,
In the mean time, at least we know where we’ll live (see pic below) and we can already start arguing about paint color choices, furnishing, and decor (UPDATE: This piece has been vetoed) and I know it’ll be a lot of work but a lot of fun.
So the new chapter is about to begin. I don’t think it’ll all be easy but I know that it’ll be worth it. We’ll at least we’ll be together and that’s going to make all the difference in the world.
So I’m coming close to having 15000 followers. I’ve decided to put aside one of my zines as well as a special print of the above image in celebration. Re-blog this post and you will be entered to win… will just randomly select one person to give it to. This will end Sept. 5th! Thanks for the support everyone!
We’re showing this movie at O Cinema during my birthday week. I am extremely excited about it. Im thinking of pairing up a special ‘Homicidal Clown’ themed party with one of the screenings to celebrate my 31st. Would that be too off-putting?
I’m giving away another signed print from my Time for Print project! Each print is limited to an edition of ten 4”x 5” prints, the same dimensions as the original Polaroids. One of you lucky followers can get one shipped right to your door. All you have to do is reblog this post & make sure to keep all the text. I’ll pick a reblogger at random a week from today.
Winner will be announced Tuesday, August 1st. Non-winners can buy your choice of print for only $45! More info here.
Two very dear friends have recently set off on exciting new adventures in their lives: moving cross country to start anew in cities very different to their hometown.
Royce is currently in the process of driving from San Francisco to Chicago.
Ryan made the trek from Miami to Los Angeles.
Ryan has been having the itch to leave Miami for a few years with his eye set on New York, but a xmas encounter with a handsome former Floridian that now calls SoCal home changed the trajectory of the move to the other land of sunshine and palm trees.
Meanwhile Royce, who has been talking about leaving the Bay area since I first met him a decade ago, decided on the midwest, and should be arriving by tmrw night in Chicago.
Some reasons for the respective moves are similar: Both wanted a change of scenery and felt that there hometowns weren’t letting them achieve their full happiness-potential. The scenarios are different however: Ryan has a great boyfriend with a wonderful apartment (you can see the Griffith observatory and the Pacific Ocean from their balcony in Silverlake), and a growing web of friends that he’s made from the various trips out to LA to visit his other half in the last few months. Royce however doesn’t know anyone in Chicago, has no place to stay when he gets there and to the best of my knowledge has never visited. Neither of these guys have jobs lined up, tons of money in the bank, or a trust funds to live off. Yet, what both Ryan and Royce do have is the drive and desire to make it work- and they will. They are smart, charming, ambitious and determined to swallow up there new cities and not let it happen the other way around.
Crazy? Yes. Scary? Most Definitely. Exciting? Completely so!
I love these boys a lot and I’m so excited for them no matter how much I miss them.
Theyre blogging about their journeys, check them out when you can:
